How are Abby and Ethan Different From Other CPAs and Virtual CFOs in McAllen?
While both Abby and Ethan are strategic and analytical individuals, each represents a different kind of perspective and approach to the business financial planning processes. Abby has extensive experience in international accounting and is an unstoppable force when it comes to helping businesses plan for growth/expansion. Her talents place clients in a position to not only minimize tax liability but optimize their asset portfolio for financial stability, taking advantage of financial opportunities as they arise.
Ethan, on the other hand, has years of accounting under his belt, both at CPA firms and through running his own practice. He thrives in performing the inner administrative and supportive tasks while truly enjoying the work and demand that business accounting brings. Through his years of expertise, he has mastered the art of developing inner financial systems for companies and producing consistent regulatory reporting. Together, this formidable accounting duo has a vast range of expertise.
These partners pride themselves on treating each client as a unique individual or business. Unlike more impersonal firms, the duo knows who their clients are as people rather than nameless, faceless numbers. They have the know-how to assist any client, whether they’re an individual who needs help with their taxes, a brand new startup or business looking to organize a bookkeeping process, or a long-established business looking to grow capital.
The duo here at Murray & Kirchner CPA LLC would be proud to become your strategic financial and business planning partners and look forward to hearing from you.
Meet Abigail Murray
Abigail Murray was born in Southern California, but she had the opportunity to travel the world with her military parents when she was growing up. And yet, from all of the places she has lived in, she has never found a place quite so welcoming as the Rio Grande Valley. Abby eventually planted her roots there with her husband in 2006, and to this day, she still can’t get enough of the rolling landscapes and the warm sands of South Padre Island.
In time, Abby opened up her own CPA firm in McAllen. During her time getting hands-on experience in accounting, Abby discovered that her true love lies in helping people. As someone who considers helping others her passion, finding a community as welcoming as that in the Rio Grande Valley was a dream come true.
With decades’ worth of experience in individual and business accounting, Abby has expertise in excess, but her true strength lies in treating each client as an individual and approaching them with openness, positivity, and vision.
Meet Ethan M. Kirchner
Like Abby, Ethan was also born in California but has called McAllen home since 1993, this is until he began his studies at Texas A&M in College Station. After graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1999, Ethan then worked hard to become a Certified Public Accountant in 2004 while gaining significant accounting experience in a variety of areas in between.
Ethan has worked with businesses and individuals to prepare tax information with precise execution, has worked with multiple industries to create general ledger and financial statements, and has carried out financial systems assessments while implementing controls and efficiencies based on the results. Ethan prides himself on his high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
After a few years of working as a sole practitioner, Ethan’s memories of home, the beauty and rich culture of the Rio Grande Valley, drew him back once more. The Valley emanates with a spirit of togetherness and heart unlike any other, and it was this sense of community that led Ethan to become a board member for a local nonprofit dedicated to helping children fighting cancer called Friends for Hope.
Like Abby, Ethan has a passion for helping others, a mutual sentiment they discovered while working together at a previous CPA firm in 2012. It was through this partnership that our VCFOs were able to perfect their compassionate and friendly brand of client care, anticipate clients’ needs, and present efficient financial opportunities. The two then parted ways briefly, until 2020 brought them together as the efficient VCFO duo of Murray & Kirchner CPA LLC, a full-service CPA and VCFO firm that McAllen has never seen before.
Our Areas of Expertise
Now that you have a sense of who Abby and Ethan are as people, you can learn more about the services they provide as virtual chief financial officers. A VCFO is an individual that wears many hats. They are accountants, tax partners, and certified public accountants (CPAs) who works closely with small businesses and individuals to manage not only all of their accounting needs but financial management and planning as well. It’s the job of a VCFO to learn and satisfy those needs by meeting and working closely with their clients often.
The difference between an accountant and a VCFO, however, is similar to the difference between an architect and a contractor: an architect may design a building, but it will take a contractor to build it. VCFOs take on the responsibility of analyzing a business’ financial needs and planning opportunities while executing the work that needs to be done.
At Murray & Kirchner CPA LLC, you can expect our VCFOs to:
- Partner with clients on a monthly basis
- Plan out effective financial processes for your business
- Maintain and report financial activities
- Handle payroll
- Manage financial risks
- Employ efficient bookkeeping skills
- Organize business quick books
- Interpret financial information
- Execute and oversee the reporting process
- Suggest ways to control expenditures
- Suggest ways to acquire capital
